Program Overview
Spend your summer time in Luangprabang. The summer volunteering program offers a balanced combination of education, tour, culture, soft trekking and volunteering activities. Your time on our summer volunteer program will be well-spent to make sure you have a positive impact in the surrounding villages by painting, building and renovation.
Program Requirements
Aged anywhere between 17 to 60 years old or older to join the program. Volunteers should be flexible, open mind to work in a new environment and very keen outdoor working person or anyone who is interested and looking forward to doing something meaningful community service during vacations. We require only for groups of 5 to join this program and volunteers applying to join this program will be required Emergency contact, a clean criminal record (Police Check) and resume.
Itinerary
Day 01 DAY 01 SATURDAY WELCOME TO LUANGPRABANG
Upon your arrival in Luangprabang, your local guide will welcome you in the airport then escort you to your accommodation to check in.
Rest of the day at your leisure to relax and explore the city. Welcome dinner will be served in a local restaurant.

DAY 2 SUNDAY – ORIENTATION AND CITY TOUR
In the morning After breakfast, we are going to make orientation including Lao language lessons, cultural dos and don’ts, how to stay healthy and safe in Laos and drift program details.
After Lunch, we start the city tour at Wat Xieng Thong, the most photographed temple in Luang Prabang. Once back in Luang Prabang, enjoy your lunch on boat cruise back to Luangprabang.
Begin an afternoon tour exploring the enchanting World Heritage Town of Luang Prabang. The tour starts at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum and
Continue to the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre. This museum is dedicated to exploring the rich diversity of Laos’ ethnic minorities, displaying traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts. In the late afternoon, we climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River and then enjoy shopping at the lively street night market at Sisavang Vong Road. DAY 3 LUANGPRABANG -ALMS GIVING – KUNGSI WATER FALL
For early-risers around 05:30, there is a very special dawn visit to witness the monks leaving their pagodas to receive offerings of food from Luang Prabang residents. It is a beautiful, serene ceremony that highlights the spiritualism of the Lao people.
Continue then with a drive through the Luang Prabang countryside to Kuang Si Waterfalls. Upon reaching Kuang Si Waterfall, enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings or explore the surrounding dense jungle on foot. For the adventurous, it is possible to walk to the top of the falls via a steep track where beautiful views await.
These waterfalls cascade down a multilevel limestone formation creating a series of turquoise blue pools perfect for swimming on a hot day (if swimming, please dress modestly).
Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch.
On the route back, we visit to the Free the Bears sanctuary, housing 23 Asiatic Bears which were rescued from poaching. Additionally, make a stop at the unique Lao Buffalo Dairy Farm, a social enterprise that produces sustainable and delicious cheese while giving back to the community and environment. While the buffalo may be the stars here, there are also playful pigs, cheeky chickens and rollicking r abbits that are just as fun to interact with for the young and young at heart. Enjoy a homemade ice cream at the cafe before saying goodbye to the Buffaloes and the team.

DAY 4-7 TUESDAY – FRIDAY PAINTING & RENOVATION PROJECT
A challenge Laos continues to face is its poor infrastructure. While upscale developments can be found throughout Luang Prabang, facilities like community centers, schools and hospitals that are depended upon by the poor continue to be run down. Volunteers bring labor to help restore buildings, fixing or painting. Volunteers live in Luang Prabang and work in the city and surrounding areas. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 8 SATURDAY – FREE DAY
This is your day to relax and Schedules are kept flexible to ensure that our volunteers have adequate time to experience the uniqueness of the Lao culture and discover the heritage city of Luang Prabang & surrounding areas.

DAY 9 SUNDAY RICE EXPERIENCE AND LAO COOKING CLASS
After breakfast, we will head to the Living Land Farm – a social enterprise that funds education opportunities for local youth – to participate in planting, harvesting &
processing rice with traditional equipment and techniques. Rice is a staple of the Lao diet, economy, and culture, making this is the perfect way to kick off your Laos experience.
That evening we’ll join a Lao Cooking Class and prepare our own feast of delicious Lao cuisine!

DAY 10-14 MONDAY – FRIDAY TEACHING PROJECT
Volunteers work four to six hours a day teaching English to young Buddhist monks, poor children or disadvantaged students from remote areas of Luang Prabang in different ages and different levels at our community. All volunteers work alongside with Lao teachers in the classrooms, assisting them with pronunciation and providing context for foreign/western concepts present in the teaching materials. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 15 SATURDAY LUANGPRABANG - DEPARTURE
After breakfast, explore luangprabang on own until transfer to airport for flight back home or your next destination.

Accommodation & Wifi
Volunteers will stay at a hotel in sharing a room with other volunteers of the same gender. The hotel is located in Luang Prabang City. You can find many conveniences like banks, bars, coffee shops, telephone booths and restaurants.
The hotel will provide of various facilities which to make sure your satisfied for our service, the facilities consist of free WIFI, clean toilet, closet, television, refrigerator and laundry service.
Meals
Volunteers are usually provided daily breakfast at the hotel. Lunch & Dinner are provided at a local restaurant (except for the free day). You can try other foods on your own meals on free day, there are many restaurants in Luangprabang that serve variety of food. Excellent traditional Lao or Luangprabang style food, Thai, Indian, Chinese and European dishes are all available and are an excellent value and there is a great for market street, just 10 by walking away from your guesthouse and a nightly all you can eat a vegetarian street buffet for $2. Most restaurants are open from early in the morning till late at night
Free Time
Schedules are kept flexible to ensure that our volunteers have adequate time to experience the uniqueness of the Lao culture and discover the heritage city of Luang Prabang & surrounding areas. There are caves and rice paddies to explore, and nearby lagoons offer great opportunities for refreshing dips. You can partake in many outdoor activities, including cave exploring, hiking, kayaking, tubing and rock climbing. In town you can enjoy a fun and laid-back scene. There are bars and restaurants serving Lao and international foods, and you can stroll past Buddhist temples and colorful textile shops. Luangprabang is one of our most popular destinations, so there will be many other volunteers in the country with you during your trip. This gives you the freedom to spend your leisure time either exploring alone or in a group.
