How is Roots-Leaves volunteer Laos funded?

We understand how important it is to ensure your contribution is used effectively, that’s why we’ve provided a full breakdown of where your volunteering fee will go. As shown, we keep administrative costs to a minimum to ensure our program remains affordable and accessible to as many volunteers as possible.

After covering essential administration, your fee will be combined with other volunteers’ fees and   directed toward supporting our local community. By combining resources, we are able to maximize the impact—providing essential supplies and educational support to disadvantaged students. Together, we can create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

Accommodation, Food & Transportation

Accommodation costs cover the rent for our volunteer houses and include meals, contributions to host families, utility expenses such as electricity and water, as well as house tax. Each project location has a dedicated local coordinator whose main responsibilities include preparing accommodation for new volunteers, welcoming and orienting them, offering ongoing support, ensuring continuity in the teaching programs and  providing 24/7 emergency assistance.

Administration & overhead costs

These include staff salaries, legal and renewal fees, office rent, maintenance and repairs, office supplies, taxes, telephone and internet charges, travel expenses, and utility bills.

Support to the Community

Our community is run by volunteers. We receives no financial support from the government or outside sources. Volunteer contributions go directly to our community to provide teaching materials and support disadvantaged students.

Orientation

These services include preparing volunteer accommodations, conducting orientation sessions, organizing induction weekends, providing welcome packs, hosting social events, supplying basic necessities such as drinking water and toilet paper, and offering airport pick-up and drop-off services
