PROGRAM FEES
As a small, independent community organization, we do not receive funding from government agencies or international donors. To help sustain our educational programs and community initiatives, we kindly ask volunteers to contribute a program fee.
This contribution supports essential program costs, including educational materials, local teacher support, program administration and the ongoing maintenance of our community projects. Your support directly benefits our students and helps us continue providing free English education to young people in Luang Prabang.
We welcome volunteers for flexible placements ranging from one week to twelve weeks, allowing you to contribute in a way that suits your schedule while making a meaningful impact on the local community.

All the program fees are listed in USD and are charged per person.

Important information:
- There are no Registration or processing fees.
- A 3% international banking fee is added at point of payment.
- We recommend budgeting around US$70 per week for expenses.

How we're funded!
We understand how important it is to ensure your contribution is used effectively, that’s why we’ve provided a full breakdown of where your volunteering fee will go. At Roots-Leaves Volunteer Laos, we ensure every contribution is used responsibly and transparently. Your volunteer fee helps cover accommodation, meals, and essential program costs while the rest supports local schools, teachers, and students. By joining us, you’re not only volunteering your time but also helping create lasting change in our community. Together, we can create lasting change in their lives.
Orientation
We offer comprehensive orientation services to ensure volunteers feel prepared and comfortable during their stay. These include arranging accommodation, conducting orientation sessions and induction weekends, providing welcome packs, organizing social activities, and supplying basic necessities such as drinking water and toilet paper. Airport pick-up and drop-off services are also available to make your arrival and departure smooth and stress-free.
Administration & Program Support
These costs include staff salaries, office rent, legal and renewal fees, maintenance, office supplies, communication expenses, transportation, and utilities. By maintaining a small but dedicated local team, we ensure the program runs smoothly while keeping costs efficient and transparent.
Accommodation, Food & Transportation
Your contribution helps cover the cost of volunteer housing, daily meals, contributions to host families, and utilities such as electricity, water, and local taxes. Each project location has a dedicated local coordinator who prepares the accommodation, welcomes and supports volunteers, ensures the smooth running of programs, and provides 24/7 emergency assistance
Support to the Community
Our community is fully volunteer-run and receives no government or external funding. Your contribution directly supports teaching materials and improving educational opportunities for disadvantaged students.
