How is Roots-Leaves volunteer Laos funded?
We understand that it’s important to ensure your money is being well spent, so we have provided a full breakdown of where your volunteering fee will go. As you can see, we keep the administration costs to a minimum, ensuring that our fees remain competitive so that as many volunteers as possible can come to Laos.
How Your Volunteer Fees Are Spent
Accommodation, Food & Transportation
Accommodation costs cover the rent for our volunteer houses and also include meals, donations to homestay families, house tax, electricity , and water. At the project location , there is one local coordinator. The main tasks are to prepare accommodation for new volunteers, to meet, introduce , and generally help volunteers, to ensure continuity in the teaching programs , and to provide 24/7 emergency support to the volunteers .
Administration & overhead costs
Administration and overhead costs: staff salaries, legal fees, renewals, rent, repairs, supplies, taxes, telephone and internet bills, travel expenditures , and utilities.
Support to the Community
Our community is run by volunteers; we receive no funding from the government or outside sources to support it, and volunteer donation fees go directly to the schools to purchase teaching supplies and assist disadvantaged students.
Orientation
These include preparing accommodation for volunteers, orientation, hosting induction weekends, making welcome packs, parties and basic supplies such as drinking water and toilet paper, picking up from the airport and dropping off at the airport.
